Day 6: I love a parade!

With only light fog drifting across the water this morning, we were under way by about 7:30 and met up with Irish Attitude just above the lock.  We then found that the four boats anchored near us last night were also wanting to lock down bright and early.  So there we were, 6 of us, waiting for the lock to bring a tow up so that we could head down.  We drifted around for nearly two hours before we could enter the lock and begin our day's travels.  This meant we wouldn't be able to get as far as we had planned - but then planning is only guessing, after all.

Once through the lock, we formed a long line and set off down the river/ditch.  We were in the lead, and therefore set the pace, but we gathered together again at each lock.  We went through 4 today, and will need to do a few more tomorrow.

The group of four left us just after the third lock, and we continued on with Irish Attitude to Smithville, where we had heard there was a really good steakhouse.  We decided to stay at the marina in order to take advantage of their courtesy car.  The place is very rustic, but the people and the animals (cat and dog) have all be very friendly.

Tomorrow is Saturday, and the locks run on a two-hour schedule. Our first one runs on even hours, the next on odd hours, etc.  Timing should be interesting!
